Most people will skip this temple on their visit to Obuse when they come to see the Hokusai Museum but this place is a nice added bonus if you enjoy the works of the artist. Personally, I like that it's possible to see the original artwork still installed in the original place.

The ceiling painting is called Happo Nirami Ho-o (the Phoenix Looking in All Directions) and Hokusai created when he was in his 80s. The painting is beautiful as is the temple. If you jump on a rental bicycle and explore Obuse make sure to add this to the plan.
