This stunning place can be used as a day onsen or stay at the hotel. Check the available hours carefully for the day onsen use as they are shorter than the hotel guest use hours.
Overview
Hishino Onsen Tokiwakan is a beautifully design onsen that showcases the essence of Japanese design with a little quirky feature that I'll cover in just a moment! The baths are made from smooth Japanese cyprus wood which give an element to simpleness as it blends with nature although somehow make it more elegant. The location is on the mountainside and provides a panoramic view looking south over Komoro and across to the southern mountain range.
A cool feature is the 1 .5 minute mini cable car ride up the steep mountain side up to the bath house which adds an element of playfulness to the experience.
Tip: go in time the sunset :)
Description
Guests can soak in the relaxing waters while taking in stunning views of Mt. Tateshina, Yatsugatake, and even catch a glimpse of Mt. Fuji on clear days. With free courtesy lifts from Komoro Station, it's easy to access this tranquil retreat for a rejuvenating getaway surrounded by nature.
There is also a hotel should you like to stay overnight which also offers meals. For the service and experience, you get great value for your money. Otherwise, you can come here just for the day and use the onsen.
Access
The bus from Komoro station takes 34 minutes including a 1.3km walk from the bus stop (Kinoko no mori bus stop).
There is a free shuttle service available which leaves from Komoro Station however, it will need to be arranged with the Hishino Onsen Tokiwakan in advance.
