It’s perfectly located for hiking in the Niigata region around Minami-Uonuma, with mountains like Hakkaisan just a short distance away. Some of the rooms also come with private open-air bath.

Open-Air Baths

The open-air hot spring, Amanogawa, offers views of Mt. Makihata and surrounding 2,000-meter peaks along the Gunma-Niigata border. The bath is designed to blend with the natural surroundings, with no visible man-made structures. In 2014, it was ranked as having Japan’s best view from an open-air bath. The spring water contains sodium chloride and bicarbonate, providing a smooth bathing experience. On clear nights, the Milky Way may be visible from the bath.
