Dorrigo National Park is an absolute haven for nature lovers, with a mix of breathtaking waterfalls, lush rainforests, and incredible birdwatching. The park is World Heritage-listed and has some of the most stunning trails you could explore. Let me tell you about the hike I did and suggest, I took the Rosewood Creek Circuit and then linked up with the Blackbutt Trail. The adventure starts at the Never Never Picnic Area and covers about 9 kilometers in total.

The first part of the walk, the Rosewood Creek Circuit, is pretty straightforward. It’s mostly flat and manageable, leading you to the first of three waterfalls: Coachwood Falls. This spot is just the beginning of the scenic beauty you'll encounter, though I didn’t swim here. I was more focused on soaking in the lush surroundings and, admittedly, dealing with my first leech of the day. Pro tip: slap on some insect repellent before you start; otherwise, you might end up like me, sporting some leech bites!

From Coachwood Falls, you’ll reach a junction. Head left to tackle a steeper section leading to Red Cedar Falls. This waterfall is a standout, being the tallest in the park at 58 meters. The power of the falls is impressive, and you’ll feel the spray long before you see it. While my friend took a refreshing swim, I opted to enjoy the powerful mist from a distance.

After enjoying Red Cedar Falls, head back to the junction and continue on the trail. You’ll eventually hit another fork. Turn left onto the Blackbutt track, and within less than a kilometer, you'll reach Casuarina Falls. This pool is a vibrant turquoise, perfect for a swim. After taking in the beauty of Casuarina Falls, retrace your steps back to the car park.

This hike is a true gem and offers such a memorable experience with stunning waterfalls and lush rainforest scenery. I hope you have an amazing time exploring these falls!
