This spot is located right off Route 73, just 10 minutes from the town of Lake Placid. It's a great option for literally anyone looking to experience a dramatic mountain setting without having to endure an arduous hike.
Here you can enjoy two long and narrow lakes: Upper Cascade Lake and Lower Cascade Lake.
A 100-foot walk bridges them, with plenty of space for picnicking and parking on the spit of land between the two.
In addition to breathtaking views, there are plenty of activities here to enjoy such as swimming, fishing, and paddling in the lake.
Fishing enthusiasts will find plenty of Brook Trout, Brown Trout, and Lake Trout here, as well as Pumpkinseeds, Sunfish, and Yellow Perch. For those looking for a more adventurous experience, rock climbers can scale the cliffs of Pitchoff Mountain and hikers can explore the rugged terrain along the waterfall’s edge.
