Izakaya Toyo is a tachinomi (drinking while standing) seafood izakaya in Osaka, Japan that has gained global notoriety thanks to its appearance on the Netflix show Street Food: Asia. Not only does the eatery offer a great selection of sushi, sashimi, and grilled dishes, but its star dish - the broiled tuna cheek - is served with an impressive show. The chef Toyo-san sets off a dramatic flamethrower-style attack on the grill to make this dish, drawing eyes from passersby in the area. Order the fatty tuna set menu for a plate of sashimi, sushi, and caviar, or try an appetizer of eel and cucumber sushi rolls. People looking for entertainment and delicious Japanese food should look no further than Izakaya Toyo.
It's strongly recommended to get here before the opening time as the line can get pretty long.
