Kotoku-in is a Buddhist temple located in the city of Kamakura in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. This renowned temple is most known for its iconic National Treasure - The Great Buddha of Kamakura (Kamakura Daibutsu), a monumental outdoor bronze statue of Amitābha. This awe-inspiring 13.35 meters (43.8 ft.) tall statue weighing approximately 93 tonnes (103 tons) serves as an iconic representation of Japanese Buddhism and has been captivating visitors with its grandeur for centuries. Moreover, this large statuette is hollow and visitors can view its interior filled with graffiti left by a range of generations. To top it off, the entrance includes a beautifully crafted gate with two Niō statue guardians adding to the majestic feel of Kotoku-in.
