Open: during winter season (Dec - April), hut is usually open for lunch Friday - Sunday. Check the hut website to see if it's open before heading out.
This snowshoe trail does not appear on the Flumserberg website. But it is an official route that is marked and controlled for safety.
Shorter version: After about 45 mins, you reach the Fursch hut, which also has a cafe open for lunch daily during winter season. If you want a short hike, just go here and back, about 3.5 km round trip. This part of the trail is usually groomed.
How to get there
You can reach the trail with the Flumserberg mountain lifts, starting at Tannenboden - see on Google maps.
To get to Tannenboden:
By public transport: Take a train to Unterterzen. Then ride the SeeJet gondola up to Tannenboden. This gondola is not included in the winter hiking Heidi Ticket described below.
By car: We typically park at Tannenboden, which has multiple metered parking areas near the BergJet gondola station. Best to arrive before 9am, especially on weekends, or you may have to park very far away.
Other option is to park at the Unterterzen lot next to the Seejet gondola - Walenseestrasse 17, 8882 Quarten. Then you don't have to drive up the mountain on the winding road. In this case, you would ride the Seejet gondola up to Tannenboden. This Seejet gondola is not included in the winter hiking Heidi Ticket described below.
To get to the trail from Tannenboden:
Ride the BergJet gondola from Tannenboden to Maschgenkamm.
Walk to the Panüöl chairlift, which is just outside the gondola station to your left. Wait at the stairs for the operator to come check your ticket and open the gate so you can get on the chair lift.
Get off the chairlift at Panüöl and follow the pink snowshoe trail signs to your right, direction Fursch.
Tickets
You'll need the Heidi Ticket for winter hiking. It includes round trip on the BergJet gondola (Tannenboden-Maschgenkamm) gondola and Panüöl chairlift.
You can purchase tickets online or at the ticket office onsite. Discount with Swiss Travel Pass, Half Fare Card, and GA. See current prices.
Note: The SeeJet gondola from Unterterzen is not included in the Heidi ticket. If you came by train to Unterterzen or parked there, you'll need to purchase that Seejet ticket separately.
