Welcome to the Swiss Transport Museum, where the world of transportation comes to life! This museum is a MUST-VISIT for anyone interested in planes, trains, automobiles, and boats. With over 20,000 exhibits spanning 20,000 square meters, you can expect to spend half a day here because there's just soooo much to see! This is also the is the MOST VISITED MUSEUM in Switzerland.
Start off by exploring the aviation section, where you'll find a variety of planes and helicopters, including some of the first airplanes ever built. Take a seat in the cockpit and imagine what it would be like to fly one of these magnificent machines! Next, head to the railway section, where you'll see steam locomotives, modern trains, and even a miniature train that you can ride.
If you're a fan of automobiles, you'll love the road transport section, which features cars, motorcycles, and bicycles. Marvel at the classic cars, including some vintage Rolls Royces and Ferraris, and learn about the history of the automobile.
But the fun doesn't stop there! In the water transport section, you'll find boats, ships, and even a submarine. Climb aboard a steamship and imagine what it would be like to sail on Lake Lucerne. Or take a tour of the submarine and learn about life on a sub.
For the little ones, there's a special outdoor section called the Children's World. Here, kids can climb aboard a real fire engine, try their hand at driving a mini-car, or take a ride on a miniature train. There's even a playground and a miniature airport where they can play and learn about transportation.
One of the highlights of the museum is the Planetarium, where you can take a journey through the cosmos and explore the wonders of the universe. The state-of-the-art digital projection system is a true marvel of technology, taking you on a breathtaking journey through space.
I know...this is probably the most expensive musuem you would pay for in Switzerland...but if you happen to have the Swiss Travel Pass, the entrance price is halved, and I still think it is highly worth the visit.
