What to Explore at Reichenbach Falls Park

💦The Reichenbach Falls

The main attraction, of course, is the Reichenbach Falls themselves. The waterfalls are composed of multiple cascades, creating a mesmerising sight as the water rushes down the cliffs. The best view is from the Reichenbach Falls Viewing Platform, which can be accessed either by foot or by taking the Reichenbach Funicular. The platform offers a panoramic view of the entire waterfall, the gorge below, and the surrounding alpine landscape.

🚋The Funicular Ride

Round trip: CHF 10 for adults, CHF 5 for children (6-16 years).

One-way: CHF 6 for adults, CHF 3 for children.

Opening Hours: The Reichenbach Funicular operates daily from April to October, typically from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, depending on the season. The falls are accessible year-round, but some services may be limited in the off-season (November to March).

One of the most exciting and convenient ways to reach the top of Reichenbach Falls is via the Reichenbach Funicular. This historic funicular takes visitors on a thrilling 5-minute ride up the steep slopes, offering spectacular views of the valley and surrounding mountains. Once you reach the summit, the Reichenbach Falls Viewing Platform is just a short walk away.

📸Sherlock Holmes Memorial

Free access, although donations are welcome.

The falls were the scene of the final confrontation between Sherlock Holmes and his arch-nemesis, Professor Moriarty, in the story “The Final Problem.” To honor this, there is a Sherlock Holmes Memorial near the viewing platform, where you can learn more about the iconic characters and their connection to the falls.

🏞️The Reichenbach Gorge

Reichenbach Gorge is an incredible natural feature worth exploring. The gorge is a deep, dramatic ravine carved by the Reichenbach stream, and it’s home to impressive rock formations and rushing waters. There are several walking routes that take you along the gorge, allowing you to experience its raw, untamed beauty.

📝Tips for Visiting Reichenbach Falls Park

Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit Reichenbach Falls is during the spring and summer months (April to October) when the weather is mild, and the waterfalls are in full flow. The autumn months (September to October) are also a great time to visit, as the surrounding forests display beautiful fall colors.

🥾Wear Sturdy Shoes: If you plan on exploring the walking trails or Reichenbach Gorge, be sure to wear comfortable and sturdy hiking shoes, as some paths can be uneven and rocky.
