Flakstadpollen is one of the most beautiful fjords in Lofoten, and it's also a birding and wildilfe hotspot. From spring through fall, there are thousands of birds here from red breasted mergansers, whooper swans, floatillas of eider, nesting arctic terns, flocks of graylag geese, oystercatchers and curlews, otters swimming amongst the boulders, snowshoe hares and ptarmigan in the birch forests that line the fjord .. it's truly one of the most amazing places in Lofoten.
If you're visiting in spring or summer, please be mindful of the nesting birds. They all nest on the ground and so they can be easily disturbed. We see it all too often with people's dogs offleash (which is illegal) and people chasing the birds with drones and cameras. This is such a special place so please please be respectful :)
