Holandsmelen is a small mountain a short drive away from Leknes in Lofoten. There's a simple trail that starts in the parking lot and winds up through a birch forest before emerging on a mountain bench the leads up to to the flat, spacious peak that offers spectacular views of the white-sand beaches of Vik and Haukland. Although the trail is not well marked, it is well worn and easy to follow. It's also relatively gently sloping which makes this a super family friendly hike option in Lofoten. With only a few brief steep portions, it is an excellent trail for novice hikers who want to escape the road or for those who want to take an easy hike to catch the sunset on a tranquil summer evening.
