The Leiterhorn is a beautiful viewpoint above Wengen, with a breathtaking panorama of the Lauterbrunnen valley and the majestic Jungfrau mountains.
Trail: moderate • 2h • 4.9 km loop • 260m up, 250m down
See trail map.
From the Wengen train station, you wander through the village, then on country roads servicing chalets higher up the mountain. Follow signs to Hunnenflue, the first viewpoint on the route. If you don't want to do the whole hike, you can stop here for fantastic pics and walk back to Wengen.
From Hunnenflue, it's another 40 mins and 150m elevation to reach the Leiterhorn peak, which has an even more spectacular view of the Lauterbrunnen valley. The trail loops back down to Wengen, for about 2 hours total walking time.
This hike is a good choice if you are staying in Wengen and need a short activity after you arrive. It's also particularly nice at sunset when the mountain peaks light up with the alpine glow.
