The Felsenegg Restaurant is a fun place to eat near Zurich, perched on top of a little mountain with panorama views of Lake Zurich and alps in the distance. You get there by riding a little cable car up the mountain and a 5 min walk to the restaurant. It has that Swiss mountain hut feel without hardly any effort and so close to the city.

They serve Swiss food like Älplermagronen, Rösti, Capuns, Raclette, and Fondue, as well as fresh salads and sausage. Their Apfelstrudel is pricy, but a delicious treat any time of day.

It's family friendly, with a small playground for the kids in the meadow behind the restaurant. If you feel like a stroll before or after your meal, we suggest the short loop along the ridge and through the nearby farms - learn more.

It's always busy on sunny weekends and also a popular place for sunset dinners. Best to make a reservation for lunch or dinner and mention you'd like a table on the terrace. In the afternoons, it's usually quieter and no reservation is possible.

How to get there

The Adliswil cable car is located at Zelgstr. 80, Adliswil, about a 10 min drive south of Zurich city.

By train: Ride to the Adliswil, Bahnhof train station (15 mins from Zurich HB). Then a 7 min walk up through the neighborhood to the cable car station.

By car: There are a few parking spots in front of the station. Or you can drive to the Buchenegg pass and start the trail there, instead of riding the cable car.

The cable car ticket is part of the public transport system, so you can purchase it through the mobile app or machine at the station. Free with the Zurich Card and Swiss Travel Pass. Without a pass, a round trip ticket from Zurich costs CHF 18.40.
