This 5 km mountain scooter route at Stockhütte has beautiful views of Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains. Here you ride a “Bike Board,” which is a three wheel scooter with hand brakes, much more stable than the typical two wheel Trotti scooters.

Much of the route is through forests, which was particularly beautiful at the end of September, when the leaves where changing.

Location: Emmetten-Stockhütte gondola, southeast of Lucerne - Hinterhostattstrasse 4, 6376 Emmetten

Open: mid May thru October

How to get there

This scooter ride starts at the top of the Emmetten-Stockhütte gondola, southeast of Lucerne - Hinterhostattstrasse 4, 6376 Emmetten. You would need a one-way gondola ticket, which costs CHF 24/adult (2024). Discount with Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Half Fare Card, and GA.

Then rent the scooter for the way down. In 2024, the scooter rental costs CHF 18/person, including helmet. Does not include the gondola ticket.

However, we usually ride the scooters after hiking from Klewenalp or Maria Rickenbach. In those cases, you would ride a different cable car up and end the hike at Stockhütte for the scooter ride. Refer to the directions in those posts.

Scooter Rental

You pick up the scooters at the top of the Stockhütte gondola.

Recommended age 10, under that age can ride with an adult. The important thing is that they can balance on the scooter and have enough hand strength to work the brakes.
