It's a tough hike, with steep climbs and rocky terrain. But the path is well built, clearly marked and no particularly exposed or dangerous. It takes all day, so get an early start so you don't miss the last gondola at the end.
💡TIP: We prefer starting at Schynige Platte and ending at Grindelwald First. We think this direction has the best views, particularly as you descend to the Bachalpsee at the end. But hiking the other direction is also very nice and 210m less ascent.
It's a one way trail with mountain transport on each end, which are connecting to regular train stations. So you can easily get back to your starting point by public transport.
Start: Wilderswil train station (Hauptstrasse 2, 3812 Wilderswil)
End: Grindelwald Firstbahn gondola (Dorfstrasse 187, 3818 Grindelwald)
There are restaurants and toilets at both ends of the trail, at the Schynige Platte mountain train station and Gondola First gondola station. There are also two mountain huts along the way: Berghotel Faulhorn and Berghütte Männdlenen.
