The Flumserberg Alpenfloraweg is a short loop trail in the mountains south of Zürich. The trail has fantastic mountain views and lots of flowers during the height of summer.
It’s easy walking on the wide gravel/dirt path, making it a good choice for non-hikers, little kids and visitors with reduced mobility. The obstacle free path is stroller and wheelchair accessible.
We like this hike for visitors short on time, since it’s close to Zurich and easy to access with public transportation. It’s also good for cost-conscious travelers, as it is less inexpensive compared to other more popular mountain viewpoints.
The main flower trail is a short loop at the top of the Maschgenkamm gondola.
Trail: 35 mins • 2 km • 60m up, 50 m down
See trail map
When to go: The trail is usually open from mid June to mid October. The flowers are best from July to early August, depending on the rain.

If you can a bit farther, after the loop, you can continuing on the Alpenfloraweg (aka flower trail), direction Prodkamm, another part of the Flumserberg resort. It's not difficult and adds a lot of variety and beauty to the hike.
This section section adds 1.75 km and about 40 mins to your hike. See trail map.
At the end of that trail, you can ride a chair lift down to Prodalp, where you'll find CLiiMBER, a big ropes climbing park that's a fun add-on after the hike.
For either version of the trail, you'll need the "Heidi" ticket which includes the gondolas and chair lifts that access the trails. But at the ticket office, tell them the trail you intend to do so they can sell you the correct ticket.
In 2024, this ticket costs CHF 35/adult, CHF 23/youth (age 12-18). Children under 12 accompanied by an adult ride free. See current Flumserberg prices.
Discount with Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Half Fare Card, GA, and other Swiss travel passes. See current Flumserberg prices.
This trail is located at Flumserberg, a mountain resort in Eastern Switzerland, about 1 hour southeast of Zürich. This trail is accessed from the Tannenboden-Maschgenkamm gondola.
Drive to Tannenboden and park in the metered lot next to the gondola station. It’s a well-maintained two lane road but lots of winding curves.
Take a train to Unterterzen. The cable car station is conveniently adjacent to the train station. Take the gondola up to Tannenboden, then a short walk through the parking to the Maschgenkamm gondola.
