Chäserrugg is mountain resort southeast of Zurich, with a spectacular viewpoint over dramatic cliffs to the bright blue Walensee lake below. The viewpoint is easy to reach with a funicular train and cable car.

We love taking our visitors here because it's not in a popular tourist zone and still has stunning views to match anywhere in Switzerland.

At the top, it's just a few steps to the cliffs, where you can enjoy the view while wandering through an alpine flower garden. If you want to walk long, follow the loop trail around the high plateau.

Safety first: The walking paths are a safe distance away from the cliff edges. But there are no safety barriers. So keep little kids close and dogs on a leash.

There's a restaurant next to the viewpoint, with self-service counter and full-service section with a larger menu. It has outdoor tables as well as cozy indoor seating.
