To reach the Stanserhorn mountain viewpoint., you ride a vintage funicular halfway up the mountain. Then you transfer to a cable car for the rest of the journey. On the Cabrio cable car, you can stand on the open-air roof for a special ride.

In April, May and November, they usually offer a discounted “Good Morning” ticket for rides before 9:30 am. 

Timetable

The Stanserhorn funicular departs Stans every 30 mins from 8:30, last descent at 17:15. On busy days, they can run more frequently, about every 10 mins.

When you arrive at the top, you can select a return time, receiving a voucher with your time printed on it. Best to be at the cable car about 10 mins before your departure time.

On Thur-Sat, they offer evening trips with the restaurant open for dinner. The last ride down is at 23:00.

How to get there

The funicular is located Stansstaderstrasse 19, 6370 Stans.

By public transport: Stans train station, 14 min ride from Lucerne. There are luggage lockers at this station. If they are all taken, ask at the ticket office counter if they will store luggage there.

By car: There are a couple dozen parking spots right next to the funicular. If these spots are full, there is a large overflow parking lot about a 5 minute walk away – Robert-Durrerstrasse, 6370 Stans. We have also parked at the Stans train station underground parking - Bahnhofpl. 2, 6370 Stans.
