Lago di Sorapis is definitely the most stunning lake we've seen in Dolomites! It's color is just stunning. When you'll see it for the first time you won't believe it's real. It is in a small valley surrounded by majestic peaks.

Hike Description The hike to Lago di Sorapis is not too difficult. There is many families with kids and even older people on the trail. From the main road it takes around 1.5-2h. A few parts of the trail are really narrow.

You'start your hike crossing alpine meadows and forests. Not too far from the start of your hike the views will start to get better and better. Most of the hike is in shadows of the forests, which is great in hot summer months.

There are a few sections secured with extra chains, ropes and passing few ladders. Nothing too diffucult. Just make sure you have proper shoes.

Parking: You can park here and it should be free.

Our tips: Start you hike early in the morning, even before the sunrise. Lago di Sorapis is a very popular tourist attractions. That means only one thing - there are crowds of people during the day. We came early and there was just a few of us. On our way back there was actually a traffic jam! People had to wait in line since certain parts of the trail are narrow.

Where to stay

Facilities available There are no shops/mountain huts on the way. Make sure you bring enough water and snack with you. Also no toilet (only the natural one :D). There's one mountain hut near the lake where you can get snacks.
