Hike
2-3h
Monte Castellaz and Baita Segantini loop is another stunning hike you must to in Dolomites. The whole circuit only takes 3:30h. For relatively little effort you will be rewarded with unbelievable views. It is also great option if you only have half day free.
Best time to visit It is advised to do this hike in summer months. The summer season officially starts in June. Hike is still enjoyable in October. To avoid crowds and to witness the best views it is better to go in the afternoon.
Hike description From the parking lot follow the signs towards Baita Segantini. You will reach Capanna Cervino mountain hut after a few minutes. From there you can follow the signs towards Monte Castellaz. That will take you to the summit. This section takes around 1 hour to complete.
Your next stop is Baita Segantini. This will take around 30-40 minutes. It is a mountain hut where you can try different local delicacies. It should be open until 6pm. Make sure to stay here until sunset. The surrounding peaks turn pink in the sunshine glow! Also definitely check a small lake near the hut. It is one of the most iconic photospots in Dolomites! During golden hour you can witness amazing reflection on the lake's surface.
All you have to do now is descend back to the parking lot where you started. It will take you around 40 minutes.
Parking We recommend starting this hike at Passo Rolle. You can find a large free parking area there. The parking is called Parcheggio Malga Juribello.
