Pico de Teide is an awe-inspiring volcano located on the island of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands of Spain. Standing at a whopping 3,715 meters (12,188 feet) above sea level, it is offiicially the highest mountain in Spain, and the third highest volcano in the world if measured from its seabed base. It is a popular destination for climbers, astrological observers due to its dark sky, and those looking to explore the amazing landscapes full of unique flora and fauna. In 2016, 4 million visitors were attracted to Pico de Teide National Park, its surrounding landscapes, and the incredible views - making it the 8th most visited park in the world!

TIPS:

• The easiest way to Teide park leads from the west coast (Los Gigantes)

• You can also go up through Villaflor but that road is very steep and has many sharp turns

• There are many places in the park where you can stop and take amazing photos of Teide all around

• Teide park is accessible for free by car, but you can also book a private tours (check my link below).

• GO UP THE PEAK and during a clear day you can see all around the island and other canary islands. You have to buy a ticket for a cabble car online in advance for exact day and hour. It´s reccommended not to stay up more than 1 hour due to the high altitude. Book your ticket: [https://www.volcanoteide.com/en/teide_cable_car]

• You can have a walk around the vulcano peak, to look into the vulcan you need to ask for permission in advance (there are limited vacancies per day so be quick!) → [https://www.reservasparquesnacionales.es/real/parquesnac/usu/html/inicio-reserva-oapn.aspx?cen=2&act=+1]

• On the way to Teide park are many picnik places in the woods where its possible to do a bbq.

• One of the best viewpoints to see sunset above the clouds is called Mirador de Chipeque.
