Neuschwanstein Castle is a magnificent 19th century historicist palace in Bavaria, Germany renowned for its romantic feel and awe-inspiring views. The castle stands on a rugged hillside boasting picturesque views of nearby lake Alpsee and the village of Hohenschwangau nestled beneath it. Commisioned by King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein embodies both contemporary architectural fashion and the King's admiration for composer Richard Wagner. Filled with Romanesque style details and various neo-gothic features, the castle has become one of the world's most famous tourist attractions and has been visited by over 61 million people since its opening after Ludwig's death.
