Königssee is a natural lake located in Schönau am Königsee, Bavaria, Germany, near the Austrian border. Residing within the Berchtesgaden Alps and adjacent to the Berchtesgaden National Park, it is the third deepest lake in Germany. Spanning 7.7 kilometers (4.8 miles) in length from north to south and 1.7 kilometers (1 mile) wide at its widest point, this picturesque lake stands out for its crystal clear water. It is the only German lake where only electric-powered passenger ships, rowing, and pedal boats are permitted, with services operated by a local company. Visitors often take part in an iconic practice here, stopping on their boat to play a flugelhorn or trumpet as they listen to the reverberating echo from the steep rock walls; sometimes up to seven times louder than the original sound! With its memorable activities and views, Königssee is the perfect spot to explore nature and marvel at epic natural wonders.
