The Brocken Railway, located in the Harz mountain range of Germany, is a tourist metre gauge railway famously known by locals as "Brockenbahn" that has been operating since 1896. It runs from the station of Drei Annen Hohne to the summit of the Brocken, the highest mountain in Germany, traversing along the glorious Bode river valley. Featuring beautiful landscapes and tight turns along its 19km journey, it’s no surprise why this charming railway is so popular among tourists and locals alike – with hundreds of thousands making their way to the Brocken every year, many taking public steam-hauled locomotives or diesel engines for a thrilling ride!
