Gruta de Ana Ferreira is a fascinating geological landmark on the island of Porto Santo, known for its unique basalt columns. These hexagonal formations, shaped by volcanic activity, resemble organ pipes and are one of the island’s most striking natural features. At 283 meters high, it's got these awesome prismatic columns that were formed by volcanic activity ages ago. Legend has it that there's a cave called Gruta de Ana Ferreira up there, where King João II's illegitimate daughter supposedly hid from pirates. It's like a hidden gem with a bit of mystery thrown in!

To reach Gruta de Ana Ferreira, you must start from the nearby landmark known as the “Organ Pipes.” From there, the journey continues on foot, requiring a climb up the hill. The trail is not very well marked, so I recommend using my GPS track, which I’ll include in the description, to make your trek easier and more enjoyable. This hidden gem is well worth the effort for anyone seeking Porto Santo’s natural wonders!
