Place de la Bastille is one of the most legendary sites in Paris. Located near Rue Saint-Antoine, this historical square is home to a collection of landmarks that evoke the city’s rich history and turbulent past. The centerpiece is the July Column, erected in 1840 as a testament to the French Revolution and the events of 1830. This impressive structure is visible from a good distance and serves as a reminder of Paris’ rich history and powerful culture. An outdoor market is held here every Thursday and Sunday - the perfect place for visitors to find unique crafts or mouthwatering local delicacies, while also enjoying a lively cultural atmosphere. And of course, no visit to Place de la Bastille would be complete without the iconic Opera House, which stands proud in the center of the square. Visitors can marvel at its modern architecture and even catch performances of some of the world’s greatest operas. Place de la Bastille is a truly remarkable place where tourists can explore the history of France, take part in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and enjoy the captivating spirit of this eternal city.
