Ristorante Caveau Del Teatro is nestled in the heart of Pontremoli, on the "other" side of the river from most attractions, but in a compact and inviting neighborhood that'll make your camera want to snap away. The restaurant offers the local cuisine and some innovative dishes.
The antipasto plate, shown in the pictures, is a good way to get to know the food and culture of the Lunigiana. It's a perfect introduction to the savory pies, salumi, and preserved vegetables of the Lunigiana.
Feel like something different? The ravioli with boragine (borage) drizzled with one of the most buttery olive oils you've likely tasted (don't think the industrial crap oils you get in a US supermarket is anything like an artisan oil like this).
The local Zeri lamb is a good introduction to one of the specialty meats of the area.
The house wine is a far more serious house wine than you'll get at most restaurants in the area.
Four of us really enjoyed this restaurant recently. I hope you will, too.
