Gullfoss, the iconic 'Golden Falls' of Iceland, is one of the country's most beloved waterfalls. Located in the Hvítá river canyon in Southwest Iceland, it boasts two stages of stunning cascades and drops that reach heights of up to 32 metres (105 feet). Gullfoss makes up part of the popular Golden Circle tourist route along with the Geysir geothermal area and Þingvellir National Park. Visitors can explore walking paths and viewing platforms for a closer look at this awe inspiring waterfall, while enjoying refreshments from the Gullfoss Cafe. In addition, adventure seekers can explore the nearby Langjökull glacier by ascending its icy tunnels or snowmobiling on its surface. This incredible natural beauty is a must-see for anyone visiting Iceland.

A tourism car will suffice to reach Gullfoss via route 35 from Reykjavik. The falls are located just 10 km from Geysir. By bus, line 610 will take you to Gullfoss from Reykjavik.

This is one of the most visited sites in Iceland, it is advisable to get there before 10am.
