Askja is a stunning destination in the Icelandic highlands, offering visitors an opportunity to explore untouched landscapes like nowhere else on Earth. Visit Víti, a 60m deep geothermal lake inside a volcanic crater with a bright blue body of water at 22 degrees Celsius. From here, take a 45 minute hike to Lake Öskjuvatn and be mesmerized by the reflection of Dyngjufjoll Mountains in its waters. This spectacular view can only be reached between May-September since access is restricted due to road conditions. However, if permitted, don't miss out on taking a dip in Víti and experience the eerie beauty of this truly amazing landscape.

only accessible with a 4x4, from road 1, you must take road F88 (from the north) or F910 (from the south) and count at least 5 hours in a 4x4 round trip (plan the day)
