Glymur Waterfall in Iceland is the country's second tallest waterfall, standing at 198 meters high. Accessible only by hiking, this adventure-packed trail features a cave walk, river crossings, and stunning views of the waterfall.
Parking: There is a parking lot just at the beginning of the trail. You will have to drive on a gravel road until you reach the parking.
Distance: around 4.3 miles out and back. You can do the hike as a loop but you will have to cross the river after you pass the waterfall or you can return the same way. We decided to return the same way.
Time needed: about 3 or 4 hours depending on your fitness level and how much time you will spend taking pictures.
Elevation Gain: 1394 feet
Difficulty: Moderate
Additional Information:
the best time to go is from June to September when the log is in place for the river crossing
there are 2 river crossings on your way to the waterfall. One that is small and the other that it's bigger and you will have to cross a log
make sure you wear appropriate shoes
if you want to do the hike as a loop bring water shoes
