Kerimäki Church is the largest wooden church in the world. Built between 1844 and 1847, the church stands an impressive 45 meters (148 feet) long, 42 meters (138 feet) wide, and 37 meters (121 feet high), making it truly awe-inspiring to visit. It boasts a seating capacity of over 3,000 people and can hold up to 5,000 who come to admire its architectural beauty and grandiosity.
The church is open mainly during the summer time. Every year, the church also hosts a cozy Christmas morning service, where hundreds of real candles burn.
This is the church building that is most dearest to me, because here many of my relatives have gotten married or gone through confirmation. This is also my parents’ wedding church.
