Break Sokos Hotel Bomba is located on the shore of breathtakingly beautiful Lake Pielinen in North Karelia. Bomba is a unique and original year-round travel destination and spa hotel where nature, peace, luxury and history come together.

The history of Bomba area dates back to 1977-1978, when a magnificent log house (one of the pics) and a Karelian village were built here in Nurmes (now next to the spa hotel). The traditions and memories of the lost Karelia were wanted to be cherished and shown to future generations, so the Bomba house and the Karelian village were created as a tourist center and a kind of tribute to Karelianness, and that is because the province of Karelia and other parts of Finland, had to be given up to the Soviet Union as a result of the Moscow Peace Treaty of 1940, which ended the Winter War1. The population of these areas, mostly ethnic Finns, had to evacuate and relocate to other parts of Finland, as here in the Nurmes. So in here, you can get to know Karelian culture, e.g. for example by booking a Valamo Monastery's berry wines tasting or participating in Karelian pie workshop and of course getting to know the old wooden log Bomba house.

The hotel spa breathes wonderful old-Finnish mysticism and everything has been thought out down to the last detail. Here you will find saunas with different themes, a hot- and cold pool, and experience showers where the water flows to the rhythm of the music. You can also enjoy the outdoor jacuzzi while looking at the wonderful view of Lake Pielinen. A romantic and special spa experience!
