Konttainen is a great quick excursion destination and a picturesque view point for nature-lovers. From parking lot to the top and back goes circular route and it is only 2 km long. A snowshoe route also goes to the top in winter.

Konttainen is a 407 m high and partly steep-edged hill in Ruka. Konttainen has indeed very steep-edged walls especially from the top to the west, so here on the edges admiring the views you should be careful. Especially if you come in wet or icy weather like me.

I think the views were nice to the south, west and north 🤗 Only the southeast direction was left in the dark from the top. The only thing that made the experience a bit boring was that the sounds of the road below Konttainen were heard here pretty well. I didn’t get that “wow” feeling like for example at Koli, but I know that many loves this place. Maybe also you?
