The Forggensee, also referred to as the Roßhaupten Reservoir, is an artificial lake in the county of Ostallgäu, Bavaria, Germany. With a surface area of 15.2 km², it is the largest reservoir in Germany and a dynamic tourist destination. Visitors come here for a variety of activities such as swimming, sailing, fishing, hiking, and even boating. Nature-lovers may also take pleasure in exploring the nearby mountains and discovering archaeological remains that were submerged by the formation of the lake, as well as iconic landmarks like Neuschwanstein Castle and the Illasberg Gorge. With plenty to offer both nature and culture fans, the Forggensee is certainly worth considering as your next destination.
