The Frauenkirche Dresden is a majestic Lutheran church located in the capital of Saxony, Germany. This iconic landmark was originally built between 1726 and 1743 as an impressive symbol of Protestantism standing tall amidst the architectural baroque style structures in the city's skyline. The striking sandstone dome stands at 67 meters high and, for more than 200 years, gave Dresden a distinctive silhouette. Sadly, it suffered major destruction during World War II, but due to the dedication of many enthusiastic citizens, it underwent a successful reconstruction that finally came to completion in 2005. The reconstructed church now serves as a symbol of reconciliation between former warring enemies. It is also home to stunning works of art, and visitors can even take part in an Anglican Evensong in English. The Frauenkirche Dresden is truly a sight to behold.
