Ristorante Locanda Fermento is one of a number of new dining experiences in or around the borgo of Bagnone. It's a fine dining experience, with a great wine list. Of course, the house wine is quite good as well.
The restaurant represents what a modern and thoughtful chef might make of the region's traditional ingredients. While it's a little more expensive than many traditional restaurants, the prices aren't outrageous for the care that is taken with the ingredients. Here primi piatti, or first plates, cost 13-16 euro, and secondi piatti from 22-30 euro except for the dry aged steak, which is charged by the etto, or hectogram, a tenth of a kilo.
After the meal, if you fancy a walk, take the road heading west away from the restaurant to discover the beauty of the Lunigiana Landscape.
If you'd like to have a great dinner with wine and not worry about driving somewhere, just to the east on the road is Al Palazz and the Gardens, a highly rated B&B.
