Welcome to the most unexplored side of Greece.

This is some next level traditional village. Pyrsogianni is the most prominent of the Mastorohoria villages, a group of villages north of Zagori area. "Mastoras" is the word for "artisan" in Greek. Back in the day, these villages were famous for the stone craftsmen. They called them the "masters of the stone". Indeed, the people of Mt Tymfi, Grammos, and Smolikas knew how to work the stone and turn it into a miraculous house or stone bridge.

Their fame travelled overseas and were often invited to use their craft in various countries around Europe, the Americas, even in Australia.

Make sure you visit in days of fair weather, as the roads can close in occasions of snow. Combine with the village of Konitsa, a little further south, as well as the old, iconic stone bridge of Konitsa.
