The literal meaning of Kedrodassos is “cedar forest”.

It is indeed a large cedar forest, with some of the largest cedar trees you will ever see. Nothing like relaxing on the cool sand, under the generous shade of a gigantic, old cedar tree, next to the dazzling waters of the beach.

Kedrodassos is an excellent alternative to Elafonissi as it’s close-by and offers immense serenity. It stretches along a few kilometres on the coast, so you will definitely find your favourite spot. Many choose to free camp under the shade of the trees. Nudism is often practiced in Kedrodassos. If visiting, make sure you walk the whole length of the beach as the coast varies from rocky to sandy and is full of tiny coves.

You won’t find any sunbeds, umbrellas or beach bars of any kind on that beach. In order to get there, you need to folow the dirt road (the map takes you to the parking lot) and then walk the trail for 5-10 minutes until you find yourself well into the forest.
