This is, in my opinion, one of the most extraordinary houses in Serifos.
It's built right on the edge of the cliff, overlooking the sea and with an unobstructed view to the sunset, at the small fishing village of Mega Livadi.
This house used to belong to the overseer of the old mines of Mega Livadi, who was not..let's say, particularly appreciated by the people of Serifos. The reason was that the working conditions in the mines were appalling, sometimes lethal to the workers. The company that operated the mines eventually abandoned the island, as well as their operations in Lavrion, Kythnos and Kea and then a few decades later the house was passed on to the Kallios family.
Marinos, today's owner, is the one you'll be looking for in case you're interested in staying in this house. It is actually two houses, one in the lower ground (the bigger one) and one a little higher up, which is built right in the stone. As you can see in the pictures, the houses boast the old Cycladic architecture, with rustic details, big balconies and windows, large open spaces, an outdoor bar, etc. I totally fell in love with every single detail when Marinos asked me to photo shoot the house. Recommended!
