Stampar is an incredible place to explore in Reykjanes, Iceland. Spanning two volcanic fissures that form a series of craters, Stampar has a rich geological history that can be viewed and explored in its 4km lava field. Close to the parking lot is a trail that leads up to the largest crater that gives you a great view over the lava field and rest of the craters. Just make sure to not step on the moss!
Fun fact: Fishermen have also used Stampar as points of reference for centuries.
QUICK NOTES:
What it is: A row of volcanic craters on the Reykjanes peninsula.
Best season: Any.
Best time of day: Any, but the textures will look the best during sunrise/sunset.
Nice to know: On a clear day you can see all the way to Eldey to the south-west.
