Originally known by Icelanders as the “pool of the people”, the Landmannalaugar hot spring is a natural geothermal hot spring nestled in the colorful rhyolite mountains of the highlands. The water temperature ranges from 36-40°C, offering a relaxing soak with therapeutic mineral-rich waters. There's no entry fee (but showers and changing rooms cost around 500 ISK) and the perfect start or ending to an epic day in the highlands.

QUICK NOTES:

  • What it is: A geothermal hot spring in Landmannalaugar (highlands).

  • Best season: Summer.

  • Best time of day: Any (but most people are usually in the afternoon).

  • Nice to know: This pool is free but the showers and changing rooms have an additional fee of 500 ISK for 5 min. It is required to thoroughly shower (fully naked) with soap before entering the pool.
