Literally one of my favourite waterfalls in Iceland. Svöðufoss waterfall is a hidden gem nestled in the beautiful Snæfellsnes Peninsula with Snæfellsjökul glacier in the background. There's a nice parking lot there and you only need to walk for about 10 minutes to get to the waterfall. They have made the trails there very nice and put up a viewing platform which is great for physically impaired people. With its sheer beauty and serenity, Svöðufoss waterfall is the perfect spot to soak in some peaceful moments away from the crowds.

QUICK NOTES:

  • What it is: A lesser-known waterfall on the Snæfellsnes peninsula.

  • Best season: Any but summer/fall is my favourite.

  • Best time of day: Since it's facing north it will be in the shade most of the day but during summer, afternoon and sunset will be your best bet.

  • Nice to know: My favourite frame is from a bit of a distance, getting the glacier in there too.
