The Kuranda Scenic Railway is a truly enchanting journey through the ancient rainforests of Far North Queensland, transporting you from Cairns to the charming village of Kuranda. As the train chugs along, you'll be mesmerized by stunning views of cascading waterfalls and lush greenery, all within the Wet Tropics World Heritage-listed rainforests. This experience goes for about $180. A tour like this isn't within my usual budget when traveling however when I explored Cairns I was joined by my Grandma and sister so a tour like this was a worthwhile splurge for such a unique experience.

Once you reach Kuranda, the railway station itself is a delight, surrounded by tropical gardens and exuding historic charm. The town has a quaint, mountain village vibe, with adorable shops and vibrant markets that made it hard not to indulge in a few purchases. We also enjoyed exploring the local arts and crafts, which really added to the charm of the visit. Be sure to visit the lovely Tea Rooms for a refreshing break and to pick up some unique souvenirs.

Once you have explored the town you will then get to travel down the mountain in a gondola which is such a vibe and is included in the ticket fare. This scenic adventure is perfect for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike, offering a captivating blend of natural beauty and historical intrigue.
