Talalpsee is a tranquil mountain lake situated in kanton Glarus A visit to this natural wonder offers travelers an idyllic escape from daily hustle and bustle, surrounded by dramatic mountainscapes. The small mountain restaurant, Talalp, is located directly on the lakeshore, making it the ideal spot for a lunch break during a day of exploring. Take a chairlift up from Filzbach to the mountaintop station of Habergschwänd and then spend half an hour wandering down the enchanting trail to the lake. You can swim, you can bring a picnic and you can enjoy the views.
HIKE DETAILS:
Start at FSportbahnen Kerenzerberg chairlift at Filzbach. You can either take the chairlift and skip the fun part of the hike or spend an hour to hike through a beautiful forest to reach the lake. The entire hike out and back with hike around the lake is 9 km long with 600 meters of elevation gain. It can take between 3 to 4 hours.
On the hike you can experience the beautiful view of Walensee which is one of my favourite lake in Switzerland.
Talalpsee is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Tectonic Area Sardona.
TIP: once you are at the lake, you will see some caves carved in the mountains on the right side of the lake. Worth to walk up to them for a different perspective of the lake.
