Culture
The biggest Miao village in Guizhou, this town is basically an open-air museum that showcases the culture of the ethnic minority nestled into the heart of the valley.
The town houses about 5,000 people largely inside wooden-stilted buildings that sit half on-top of each other up the mountainside.
At the gate to Xijiang village, you'll have the chance to take 12 shots of a local alcohol (or tea if you rather not drink) from a horn , with each one carrying a different blessing, whether health, love, or riches..
Inside, there's a few Miao shows & festivals if you want to go and watch, otherwise it's a lovely place to wander around with a camera taking in the culture.
You can take either a bus or train to Kaili (depending on your starting point), and then take a local bus or taxi to the main entrance of the Xijiang Miao Village.
This is the main tourist site in the area so everyone should know why you are there.
