If you're chilling around Melbourne City for a while and need a break from the big smoke, I loved visiting these botanical gardens for a day trip. Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden, formerly known as the National Rhododendron Gardens, has over 50,000 plants, including gorgeous rhododendrons, lively azaleas, and charming camellias. One of my favorite parts was wandering through the Japanese Garden and taking in the cherry blossoms in Cherry Tree Grove.
Opened back in 1960, the garden has everything you need for a relaxed day out. I’d recommend taking a casual stroll and finding a nice spot to unwind with a picnic, soaking up the tranquil beauty all around you, I men that's what I did. There’s no entrance fee, so it’s a fantastic way to escape into nature without breaking the bank. Just make sure to set aside a few hours to fully enjoy this blooming paradise!
