I’m not a city person at all and generally skim through capital cities on my travels however, I do always make a point to visit its museums and art galleries, and the Art Gallery of South Australia truly captivated me. Located right in the vibrant heart of Adelaide, this architectural gem offers an astonishing range of artworks. With an entry fee of just $15, it felt like an absolute bargain for the depth and diversity of the exhibits inside.
From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped by a stunning collection that ranged from classic European masterpieces to cutting-edge contemporary Australian art. The gallery’s layout was a breeze to navigate, with each room presenting a fresh and delightful visual experience.
A highlight of my visit was the interactive and immersive installations, particularly a modern piece that creatively played with light and sound, providing a unique sensory journey. I also enjoyed some downtime in the gallery’s picturesque courtyard, which, during my autumn visit, was adorned with orange and burgundy leaves, adding an extra touch of charm to the experience. If you find yourself in Adelaide, the Art Gallery of South Australia is a great stop, offering a uniquely engaging and enriching stop in the city.
