In my opinion, the Westall Way Loop Coastal Scenic Drive near Streaky Bay is one of the most underrated gems in all of South Australia. This 32km coastal loop is a hidden treasure that takes you along the rugged and dramatic Southern Ocean coastline. The drive is packed with cool spots to check out, like Smooth Pool, High Cliffs, and Granites, each offering its own unique charm.
When I visited, it was a bit too chilly for a swim, but I could totally see this being the ultimate spot to hit up on a hot day. Smooth Pool and its rock pools are perfect for a refreshing dip, and Granites is known for its surf breaks, so whether you’re into swimming, surfing, or just soaking up the scenery, this drive has got you covered. Oh, and keep an eye out for Shingleback lizards there are so many in this area.
The drive itself is a total treat, with jaw-dropping views at every turn. Even if you're not diving into the ocean, the rugged cliffs and sweeping ocean views make for an epic road trip. If you’re cruising through this part of South Australia, don’t miss out on the Westall Way Loop. It’s one of those places that feels like a well-kept secret, and trust me, it’s worth every minute!
