Girraween National Park, nestled in Queensland’s Granite Belt region, was the very first place I stayed in my van for several days, and it was the perfect spot to fall in love with the vanlife lifestyle. Located about a three-hour drive southwest of Brisbane, the park is renowned for its striking granite boulders, rugged landscapes, and diverse flora, making it a true paradise for hikers and nature lovers alike.

If you’re planning an overnight stay, the Girraween National Park Camping Area is ideal, with sites priced at just $7.00 per person per night. Keep in mind that the weather can be quite variable, so pack layers and be prepared for anything from sunny days to sudden showers. As I’m writing this, I’m eagerly planning another trip back here, though I’m currently renovating a few imperfections in my van. Once I’m done, you can bet I’ll be heading back for a visit.
